Grande Prairie Fire Department responds to kitchen fire Friday morning

Friday morning at approximately 11:00 a.m. the Grande Prairie Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at Ridgeview Manor.

Upon arrival there was smoke coming from a suite located on the third floor.

Firefighters then discovered a fire in a suite which had been extinguished by the occupant using a fire extinguisher.

The occupant did suffer minor smoke inhalation and was assessed by EMS.

The investigation concluded that the fire was caused by an unattended cooking on the stove which caused $60,000 worth of damage to the suite.

All residents evacuated the building safely, and no one was significantly hurt.
