Alberta MPs to push federal government to help farmers
The MP for Grande Prairie-Mackenize says he and his colleagues have committed to five things to help farmers who still have crop out in the field.
Chris Warkentin says in a news release that list includes demanding the Liberal government complete a business risk management review promised more than two years ago, to call on the government to not impose the carbon tax on Alberta, and to make relief programs more responsive and get rid of what it terms arbitrary boundaries in determining tax relief.
The list also includes getting the government to work on re-opening the Chinese market to canola and promises to meet with counterparts in the Alberta Government.
MPs from Alberta talked about the farm crises during a meeting this week.
