NWJHL Showcase wraps up

The 2019 edition of the NWJHL Showcase is in the books.

Sunday’s action began with Fort St John knocking off Fairview 8-1, as Jared Winkel scored twice and added two assists to lead the Huskies attack.

Logan Kimmie added a pair of goals for the Huskies, while Jeridyn Loewen, Cooper Willms, Alex Nimmo and Gary Loewen added singles.

Eric Dentinger had the lone goal for the Flyers.

Meanwhile, Owen Chamberland’s goal at the 3:57 mark of the third period stood up as the game winner as the North Peace Navigators edged the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings 2-1.

Benny Yellowknee added the other goal for the Navigators, while Tanner Davy replied for the Kings.

The night game saw Griffin Young and Dex Elders each score twice to lead the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks to a 10-2 win over the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers.

Mason Ducharme and Dustin Bahm each added a goal and two assists for the Junior Canucks, while Braden Streich, Mason McLeod, Ethan Buck and Brandon Rowley also added singles.

Payton Lappenbush and Turner Walker replied for the Vipers.
