A’s looking to remain perfect in Falher

Nov 14, 2019 | 9:19 AM

The Grande Prairie Athletics look to go 4-0 to open the North Peace Hockey League season, as they travel to Falher to battle the Pirates in one of two games in league action Thursday.

This is the second meeting of the season between the Pirates and A’s, as the two opened the season at the Coke Centre back on November 2. That game saw Grande Prairie come away with a 6-3 victory, with Max McNeil and Tanner Labbe each scoring a goal and adding two helpers for the A’s in the win.

The Pirates, meanwhile, come in looking for their first win of the season. Falher has played just one other game this year, which was a 12-3 loss back on Saturday to the Dawson Creek Canucks.

The other game on the ice tonight has the Manning Comets at home to the Grimshaw Huskies. Both teams will be looking for their first (official) wins of the season in that game. Though Manning was victorious in their season opener against High Prairie, the game did not count as the Regals were forced to fold their team after that game due to a lack of player commitment.
