New hepatitis C test available in Grande Prairie
What is being called an “innovative and potentially life-saving program” launched Monday in Grande Prairie.
People can now go to London Drugs for a test that can detect hepatitis C by pricking someone’s finger and testing their blood.
The test, called OnaQuickHCV, looks for antibodies and has an accuracy rate of 99 per cent.
“Through this unique collaboration between doctors and pharmacists, we can help more Albertans get tested, and ensure those who test positive get the treatment and follow-up care they need,” says Grande Prairie London Drugs Pharmacy Manager Helena Atkinson.
