Multi-house fire in Crystal Heights; 111 Ave closed to traffic

Nov 27, 2019 | 6:10 AM

UPDATE:

The Grande Prairie Fire department is still on the scene of a multi-house fire in the Crystal Heights neighbourhood.

The fire department says heavy fire conditions were present as they arrived to the scene around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, located near 111 ave and 90 street. Crews have managed to contain the fire to three properties.

Crews continue to work, as they attempt to reach sections of the buildings that weren’t accessible earlier in the day. Hot spots remain smoldering in the rubble, and firefighters are still fighting to put out any flames.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. The Red Cross has stepped in to help the displaced residents at this time.

While fire crews are still working, 111 Ave. is now reopened from 92 Street to 90 Street. The section of road was closed for most of the day, but traffic is able to move through there once again.

Investigators are on the scene, trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
