Multiple fatal collisions across Alberta Wednesday

Separate road accidents in Alberta have left three people dead and four others injured.

RCMP say two people, both females, died when their eastbound sport-utility vehicle collided with a westbound SUV Wednesday afternoon on Highway 11, west of Red Deer.

Two people in the second vehicle were taken to hospital, while the driver of a car that struck the two SUVs was treated at the scene.

Mounties say icy road conditions were a factor in the accident.

In Calgary, police are still investigating a southeast-area collision early Wednesday evening that killed a 46-year-old man.

Investigators say his SUV crossed the centre line and collided with a pickup truck, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to a man who was the lone occupant of the second vehicle.
