Sheila Margaret Linfield (nee Carnochan), resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Sexsmith, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at the age of 82 years.
Sheila was born in Edmonton, AB and grew up Watino, AB followed by Grande Prairie. She was married in Grande Prairie in 1959 to Douglas Linfield. The life of the RCMP took them to Wetaskiwin, Edmonton, Ottawa, Vancouver, Kamloops and North Delta. After Doug and Sheila divorced in 1980, she remained in North Delta raising the boys. She spent some time in Regina and Kamloops before settling back in Grande Prairie. She moved to Sexsmith when she retired.
Sheila was known for her love of cats and kindness to all animals. She could often be found searching through her garden for Tia Meow. She enjoyed preparing meals for friends and family and, in later years, was actively involved in the Sexsmith Museum Society. She was a prolific oil painter and always had a new scene from a photo or magazine ready to go. She enjoyed visits with her many friends, children and grandchildren and still had connections with some of her childhood friends.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends including sons David (Roberta) Linfield and Philip (Leanna) Linfield; grandchildren: Andrew (Raquel) Linfield, Sheri (Carl) Krause, Jessi (Kyle) Russell, and Alex (Morgan Melenka) Linfield; great-grandchildren Logan, Emily, Laurin and Olivia; sister in-law Shirley Anne Carnohan; niece Kim Nugent; and nephew Vern Carnochan.
She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Hessie Carnochan and recently by her younger brother Ron Carnohan.
Special thanks to the care staff at Prairie Lake Seniors Community in Grande Prairie where she resided for the last 5 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 1:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Luncheon to follow.
