Longtime resident of Tangent, AB, James Lunn passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2019, at QEII Hospital, at the age of 95 years.
James was born May 31, 1924, in the municipality of Norfolk, MB, to John and Georgina Lunn. He was raised, along with three brothers and one sister, on the family farm. When his two older brothers went off to war, James was given increased responsibilities on the farm.
At the age of 19, he met Bonnie Hanna, who would become his wife and life-long partner four years later. They were married July 9, 1947 and moved to the Peace River area, in the fall of 1952, with 3 small children to homestead. They were blessed with 4 more children over the years. A lifetime of farming spent in the Tangent area meant there were many roots to pick, endless crops and gardens to grow, and cattle, pigs and chickens to raise. In 1981, after 26 years of hard work, he sold the farm and retired.
There were a lot of good years and fun times spent with family and neighbours. He enjoyed hunting, hockey, curling, card games, ball games, picnics and picking many buckets of berries. He always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
James will forever be in the hearts of his children: Murray (Vivian), Arnold (Judy), Carolyn (Rick), Robert (Carmen), Judy (Jerry) and Brenda. He is also lovingly survived by his 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; brothers Harvey and Donald (Ronnie); sisters in-law: Grace and Kaye; brother in-law James; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years Bonnie, son Roy, his four-legged companion Nipper, parents John and Georgina, brother Bill, sister Ena (Mac), father and mother in-law James and Lottie, sister in-law Leticia (John), and sister in-law Norma.
At James’s request, there will be no funeral held.
“You will be forever in our hearts.”
