It’s with heavy hearts that the Lavoie family announces the passing of Helen Lavoie on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 77 years, with her family at her bedside.
Helen was born on June 30, 1942 in Broadacres, SK on the family farm, to her father Peter and mother Lotwina Lindeman. She was one of six children. Helen had four sisters: Kay, Florence, Beatrice, and Sylvia, and one brother Frank. Helen moved to Wilike, SK in 1962 where she worked at the Esso service station as a waitress and met the love of her life Raymond Lavoie. They were married on June 14, 1965 in Wilkie, SK, then moved to Spiritwood, SK where they started their beautiful family.
Ray and Helen welcomed their first-born son Blaine on May 26, 1967. Four years later, they had the joy of welcoming their second child Nicole on June, 20, 1971. Two years later, the family was complete when they welcomed their final child Nadine on September 9, 1973. They called Spiritwood, SK home for a brief period before moving to Valleyview, AB in 1974 and opening up a family service station.
Helen was blessed with seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren that she absolutely loved unconditionally. She jumped on any opportunity that she had to look after them so she could smother them with her infectious love.
Helen was a very loving and caring individual that lived her whole life with a mentality of putting others needs before her own. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In Helen’s free time, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, bowling, baseball and camping. Helen had a passion for watching curling, baseball and hockey with her family whenever she got the chance.
She is survived by her loving husband Raymond Lavoie; daughters Nicole (Chris) Dulk and Nadine (Owen) Lavoie; sisters: Sylvia (Eddie) Reiter Kay Lang, and Beatrice Weidel; grandchildren: Vickey (Colby) Lavoie, Branden (Marinna) Lavoie, Corey Lavoie, Crystal (Brett) Ilg, Desmond Lavoie, Jolene (Jared) Kozma, and Harleigh Andersen; as well as ten great-grandchildren. Helen will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her son Blaine Lavoie, father Peter Lindeman, mother Lotwina Lindeman, father in-law Arthur Lavoie, mother in-law Clemence Lavoie, sister Florence Brenneis, brother Frank Lindeman, great-granddaughter Karci Wagner, six brothers in-law, two sisters in-law, one niece, and one nephew.
