John Leslie Martineau “Jack”, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the age of 61 years.
Jack was born September 14, 1957 in Grande Prairie, AB. He lived in Whitecourt, AB as a child and graduated high school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when his family moved there for his father’s work. He then completed Journeyman B Pressure Welding at NAIT and worked as an oilfield and shop welder in the Whitecourt, Fox Creek, Valleyview, High Prairie, and Grande Prairie areas.
He married Lori Rae in 1981, and they had two sons: John and Jeffrey. Jack had a love for the outdoors, enjoyed camping and fishing and was an avid gardener. He liked to read a good book, was an excellent cook, and loved his cat Cleo.
Jack leaves to mourn his ex-wife and mother of his sons Lori Rae; sons John (Megan), Jeffrey (Jay), granddaughter Quinn, and an unborn grandchild; sister Shelley (Wilf) Kenwell; nephews Michael and Travis Kenwell of Whitecourt, AB; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
He was predeceased by his father Clifford Martineau, sister Sharon Martineau, mother Marguerite Martineau (nee Williamson), and sister Denise Martineau.
Jack’s ashes will be placed in Whitecourt Cemetery beside his family at a later date.
