Corinne was born December 28, 1946, to Bruno and Madeleine Canadien of Fort Providence NWT, and passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in Rycroft, AB, at the age of 72.
Corinne attended residential schools in NWT where she excelled at academics and sports. She was selected to go to Expo 67 where she was honoured to meet Prime Minister Pearson. Upon graduating, she returned to her home town of Fort Providence where she worked at the Snow Shoe Inn. There, she met the love of her life David Wilson, an Alberta farmer/cat skinner.
She moved to the family farm in Wanham, AB where she became mother to her instant family of four. Then she and David added two more sons to complete the family.
Corinne learned many things on the farm, including how to operate the combine, gardening, raising animals, cooking and canning. She loved the hard work of the farm life. After David’s sudden passing in 1978, she stayed on the farm raising her 6 children while also becoming a school bus driver for Peace Wapiti School Division.
In 2010 she moved off the farm and into the town of Rycroft where she retired.
Corinne was pre-deceased by her husband David, parents Bruno and Madeleine, brothers: Louis, James, George and Michael; and sisters Caroline, Rita and Phoebe Rose; step-son Lawrence, and son in-law Ben Sallis.
Corinne leaves to mourn: brothers: Peter (Phoebe), Xavier (Margaret-Ann), and Joe (Priscilla); sisters: Georgina (Frank Fabian), Albertine, and Elsie (Mark Leblanc); brother in-law Alasdair Coates and sister in-law Charlotte Canadien; sons Kevin (Violet), and Colin (Gisele); step-children Larry, Dale (Margaret) and Lorraine Sallis; and numerous extended family.
