It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David “Tiny” Edlund on Monday, December 9, 2019, at the age of 78 years.
David was born in Grande Prairie, AB on October 27, 1941. He was the eldest son of Carl and Janet Edlund.
David was a red seal mechanic for many years, but that wasn’t his true passion. He was an artist, always with paper and pencil in hand, doodling and drawing. His love for tattoos and art helped him achieve his dream of becoming the first tattoo artist in Grande Prairie. He had many obstacles to overcome before the City of Grande Prairie and the health unit would approve his business licence. In the mid 70’s Tiny’s Tattoos opened its doors. Over the years he changed the shop to Scorpion Tattoos. In 1998 he closed his shop downtown permanently. He will always be remembered for his amazing talents.
David loved camping, fishing, and hunting.
He will be missed by his wife of 55 years Sharon; son Lorne; daughter Laurie (Harvey) Wardill; grandchildren: Baileigh, Brennen and Alyssa (Judd); 2 great-grandchildren: Zilly and Zeke; brothers: Lenard (Shirley), Alfred, and Gordon (Ruth); sisters in-law: Anita, Darlene, Arluene, and Marjorie.
He was predeceased by his father Carl, mother Janet, in-laws Jim and Lillian Wright, brother John, sister in-law Linda, and his very best friend Morris Toutant.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 1:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Interment to follow at a later date. The family invites you to join them in the gathering room after the service for refreshments and sharing.
Memorial donations may be made to Stars Air Ambulance (10911 123 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 7Z3) or Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation (800 College Plaza 8215 112 St., Edmonton, AB, T6G 2C8).
