North West Junior Hockey League

The Sundown Oilfield Sexsmith Vipers suffered their seventh straight loss after falling to the Fort St. John Huskies 11-1.

The Huskies opened the scoring just 1:41 into the game after a goal from Joel Bourgeois. The Huskies would add two more in the final five minutes of the first period to make it 3-0 after 20 minutes of play.

The Huskies fired 37 shots at goaltender Ryan Buchan in the first frame, while the Vipers were only able to muster just one shot.

After the first the Huskies never looked back, as they would add seven more goals in the convincing win. Gavin Huber scored the only goal for the Vipers with the assists coming from Jace Grant and Kail Magnusson.

The final shot count was 73-20 in favor of the Huskies.

The Vipers will look to end their seven-game slide on Saturday as they travel to Fairview to take on the Flyers. Puck drop for that game is 8:00 p.m. at the Fairview Arena.

North Peace Hockey League

The Falher Pirates defeated the Grimshaw Huskies 6-3 on Thursday night.

The Pirates started off the scoring just 57 seconds in as Pat Rowan tucked home the opening goal to make it 1-0. Alan Mazur would put the Huskies on the board just a couple minutes later to make it 1-1. Falher would add two more before the end of the period from Darren Kramer and Rowan to make it 3-1 Pirates after one.

In the second period Kramer got his second of the night to put the Pirates up 4-1, but the lead wasn’t safe. Corson Fairless and Cole Diwert would score two goals in a span of three minutes for the Huskies to make the game 4-3.

That is as close as the Huskies would get, as the Pirates would add two more goals from Kramer and Walker Cote in the third to give Falher the win.

The Grimshaw Huskies will be in action this Saturday against the Grande Prairie Athletics at the Coke Centre. face off is at 8:30 p.m.
