Storm looking for food bank donations and teddy bears at weekend games

Dec 13, 2019 | 12:00 PM

The Grande Prairie Storm will look to extend their two-game winning streak this weekend as they welcome the Brooks Bandits and Lloydminster Bobcats to Revolution Place on Friday and Saturday.

The team also heads into the weekend having picked up points in five straight games.

This weekend brings a different type of atmosphere to Revolution Place as the team gears up for some holiday giving to those in need.

On Friday against the Brooks Bandits, the Storm are asking fans to bring non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. EverythingGP spoke with Storm Business Manager Eric Hein about the events.

“Everyone who donates to the Food Bank on Friday will receive a Kal Tire coupon worth $100. The team will also be accepting cash donations and Kal Tire will be matching all cash donations that are donated.”

On Saturday the Storm will be having their annual Teddy Bear Toss and all fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to throw onto the ice once the Storm scores their first goal.

There will be 200 free teddy bears available for fans to throw on the ice. After the free bears are gone you will be able to purchase bears at the game for $5. Hein explains that this is one of the most exciting games of the year.

“We will have some teddy bears to give away if you get to the rink early. Our Teddy Bear Toss is one of our most exciting games of the year and we are happy to be working with the (Grande Prairie) Hospital Foundation and being able to bring a lot of joy to kids’ lives.”

The games on Friday and Saturday both start 7:30 p.m. at Revolution Place.
