Peace Regional RCMP have charged two men from Grimshaw following a search of a home on Friday, as part of what police are calling a “lengthy investigation into regional drug trafficking”.

A search warrant was executed with the help of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit, the RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services on December 13 at a residence in Grimshaw. The search turned up 97 grams of suspected cocaine, suspected heroin and over $6,000 in cash. Multiple firearms were also found during the search.

With that, 61-year-old Randall Lloyd Fischer and 33-year-old Brett Ryland Thibault have each been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x3)
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm (x3)

Fischer faces an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance (heroin).

Both men have been released following a judicial interim release hearing and are to appear in Peace River Provincial Court on January 13, 2020.
