Canada East to play for gold at WJAC

For the first time since 2016, Canada East will play for gold at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge.

Devon Levi made 41 saves and then stopped four American shooters in the shoot-out to pace Canada East to a 2-1 win over the defending champions in one semi final on Saturday in Dawson Creek.

Ryland Mosley scored in regulation for Canada East, while Ryan Alexander and Charles Tremblay scored in the shoot out.

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine scored for the united States, who were denied a chance to win their 9th WJAC title.

Canada East will face Russia at 5 pm Sunday in the gold medal final, after Russians beat the Czech Republic 5-1 in the second semi final.

The Czechs will play the U-S at noon on Sunday for the bronze medal.
