New equipment is coming to the hospital thanks to charitable donation

Paramount Resources LTD has made a charitable donation to buy new equipment for the Queen Elizabeth II hospital.

The petroleum company has donated $50,000 to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation’s Key to Care Capital Campaign, to purchase a new Argon Plasma Coagulator.

The Argon Plasma Coagulator will help control bleeding in patients’ gastrointestinal tract, by allowing healthcare professionals to cauterize bleeds during scope procedures. The use of this equipment will decrease potential post procedure complications, and the need for additional care after procedures.

In a statement, Dawn Miller, the Major Gifts Officer at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation, says it’s partnerships with companies like these that help quickly identify the needs of the hospital, and acquire the necessary equipment.

“Paramount Resources Ltd. understands how important it is to support healthcare in the region where they work, live and play.,” said Miller. “Thank you from the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation for this life saving piece of equipment. Elevating our hospital from good to great.”

The brand new piece of equipment will be used in Ambulatory Care at the QEII hospital, and be moved to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital in the future.
