Storm earn first point of Mac’s tournament against Saskatoon

Following their loss to the Calgary Northstars on Boxing Day, the GPAC Ernie’s Sports Midget AAA Storm were looking to rebound in their second game against the Saskatoon Contacts.

The Storm jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Devin Aubin and Clayton Brown.

The Contacts would rebound shortly after. Riley Heidt would score to make it 2-1 and get the Contacts on the board.

The Storm would regain their two-goal lead before the end of the period. Campbell McLean would tuck one home to make it a 3-1 game after 20 minutes of play.

After a strong first period for the Storm, the Contacts would find their game. Heidt would get his second goal of the game in the second period to make it 3-2.

The third period was all Contacts. They outshot the Storm 14-5 and were able to get a late goal from Logan Bairos with under five minutes to play to tie the game at 3-3.

The game would go onto finish 3-3. With the tie, the Storm sit in third place in pool 5.

The team will shift their attention to their game Saturday against the Vancouver North East Chiefs.

The game is set for 5:15 p.m. at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary.
