Attempted murder charge laid after shot fired during Little Buffalo incident

Dec 31, 2019 | 12:09 PM

An 18-year-old Peace River man is facing charges that include attempted murder after a December 27 incident in Little Buffalo.

Peace Regional RCMP say they got a call around 11:40 p.m. that day about several people fighting on a road.

They say one man then bear sprayed another, left on an ATV, came back on the ATV with a long-barrelled rifle, and fired a shot at the same man who had been bear sprayed.

Someone took the gun away and the suspect took off again on the ATV. He later surrendered to Mounties at a nearby home.

Jayden Lance Laboucan is facing seven weapons counts and a charge of uttering threats, along with the attempted murder charge.

He is in custody and is due on Falher court January 2.

A 22-year-old man from Little Buffalo is also facing a charge of uttering threats. Police say his name has not been released as charges have not yet been sworn.
