Grande Prairie man charged for alleged sexual offences against youths

Jan 10, 2020 | 10:02 AM

A Grande Prairie man faces multiple charges for alleged sexual offences against youth between October and December.

Grande Prairie RCMP say they received several reports of the alleged offences, involving female youth victims who were known to the suspect.

Following up on those reports, RCMP arrested 22-year-old Pape Sow on December 23. He is charged with two counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.

Sow has been released with conditions following a judicial review. Those conditions include:

  • No contact or communication with the victims, nor with any child under 16 years-of-age.
  • Not to attend any public park, swimming area, daycare centre, school or playground, or community centre, where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present.

Sow is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on January 20.

Police say no further details will be provided as this case is now before the court.

However, RCMP are appealing to the public for more information on these incidents, or similar incidents in the Grande Prairie area. Anyone with information can contact the Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5701. You can also report any information anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
