Outdoor Winter Try-It Day events postponed due to extreme cold

Jan 16, 2020 | 10:48 AM

The Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection says some Winter Try-It Day events scheduled for Saturday will have to be postponed due to the extreme cold weather.

With a forecasted high of minus 26 degrees on Saturday, all outdoor events at the Wapiti Nordic Ski Club and Nitehawk have been re-scheduled to go on February 1 for the safety and enjoyment of all participants. Effected events include snowshoeing, skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding and luge.

All other events slated for Saturday are still a go.

Re-registration is not required if your child has been signed up for any of the effected events. The times on February 1 will also not differ from the original schedule for Saturday.

Paige Grasby with the Sport Connection says if your child would still like to participate in one of the other events on Saturday, they can register for up to two more events. Registration can be completed on their website, or by calling the Sport Connection’s office at 780-533-5223.
