Jan 18, 2020 | 8:26 AM

MONTREAL — Quebec provincial police say a young mother was the victim of a homicide in a suburban home Thursday north of Montreal.

The victim was identified by police as Jael Cantin, 33, of Mascouche, Que., about 45 kilometres north of the city.

Police have been tight-lipped about what might have happened in the residence on des Anglais Road at about 4 a.m.

Authorities received a 911 call and found an injured man and woman in the home as well as several young children.

The two adults were transported to hospital, where Cantin, a mother of six according to her social media profile, was pronounced dead.

Police said the man is expected to recover from his injuries.

Mascouche police transferred the investigation to provincial police major-crimes detectives. Officers and crime scene technicians took over the street, which remained closed for much of the day.

Police had not identified any suspects or made any arrests as of Thursday afternoon and said that all possibilities remain on the table.
