No incident after emergency response at YQU Tuesday

Jan 22, 2020 | 8:38 AM

The Grande Prairie Fire Department says their response to the Grande Prairie Airport Tuesday evening was on a false alarm.

Emergency personnel were called to YQU shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, but stood down soon after arrival, after it was determined there was no emergency situation taking place.

“We had multiple agencies involved, and also different communication centres. Once we connected all the dots, and confirmed there was no hazard then we scaled it back as soon as we could,” said Platoon Chief Steve Larsen of the Grande Prairie Fire Department.

The Grande Prairie Airport also released a statement on Facebook late Tuesday evening, clarifying that no incident had occurred involving aircraft operations or otherwise despite much speculation.
