Verge, Marvin McLaren

Marvin McLaren Verge, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Grande Cache, AB, and Lower Lance Cove, NL, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at home, at the age of 71 years.
Marvin was born on July 1, 1948, in Corner Brook, NL. He was raised in Lower Lance Cove. Marvin attended school on Random Island, NL. He left home at the age of 16 to experience the world. He spent 3 years with the Canadian Armed Forces and was with the REME corps from 1965 to 1968. There he discovered he loved driving and running heavy equipment. After leaving the Army, he held several jobs working with mining, trucking, and oilfield industries, which enabled him to experience Iran, offshore drilling, and the oilfields of Alberta.
Marvin enjoyed learning, teaching, travelling, hunting, fishing, and time exploring the wilderness with his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his mother Julia Verge; children: Julia Gladue, Amy Verge, Lee Verge (Nicole Lafleur), and Jolene Verge; grandchildren: Cody Hall, Kaylyn Verge, Ethan Verge, and Mason Verge; brother Chesley (Marilyn) Verge; sisters: Elizabeth Williams, Sandra (Lorne) Richards, Minni-Lou (Rex) Bugden, and Amy (Dennis) Vardy; as well as many other friends and family.
Marvin was predeceased by his father John Verge; wife Donna Verge; brother Kevin Verge; and daughter Sheryl Verge.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, at Hearthstone Manor Common Room (9206 99 St., Grande Prairie).
