Over $37,000 donated through Co-op’s Good Buy to Hunger campaign

New Horizon Co-op raised $37,956 to the fight against hunger through their Good Buy to Hunger Campaign this past December.

Decals and bags filled with non-perishable food items were sold with all proceeds being donated.

Amanda Pinard with New Horizon Co-op says the money went across the Peace Region.

“So, the Good Buy to Hunger campaign allows New Horizon Co-op to give donations back to the communities we serve through donating to local food banks in the Peace Region, as well as we work with a number of schools to help feed their breakfast programs, lunch programs, and snack programs. It’s all about feeding the hungry.”

Pinard says New Horizon Co-op also gave over $4.2 million back to co-op members in 2019.

“The more you spend at your local Co-op the more you gain back on your returns as being a Co-op member. New Horizon Co-op also gave back 118,000 dollars in 2019 to local organizations and causes in our community, which was just fantastic (and) makes a big difference.”

$22,956 was raised through decals and bags, and Co-op matched $15,000 of the funds raised.
