Sexsmith’s Rowney honours Kobe in unique way

Sexsmith’s Carter Rowney found a very unique way to honour the late Kobe Bryant.

The Anaheim Ducks forward, who wears #24 just like the NBA icon did for 10 of his 20 NBA seasons with the L.A. Lakers, scored on the Ducks’ 24th shot of the game Wednesday night, which happened to be Anaheim’s 24th home game of the season.

The goal was an insurance marker, also short handed, which helped the Ducks take a 4-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

The goal comes on the same night the Ducks held a pre-game tribute to Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, as well as the seven other individuals who perished in Sunday’s helicopter crash in southern California.

Rowney is playing in his second season with the Ducks and fourth overall in the NHL. The 30-year-old now has six goals and five assists on the season.
