Canucks hold on to second in NWJHL

The Dawson Creek Junior Canucks got goals from six different players, and 30 saves from Matthew Ens in a 6-1 win over the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings.

Mason Ducharme, James Lalikeas, Chase Henrickson, Brandon Rowley, Carter Maki and Blake Wilson scored for the Junior Canucks, while Geoff Dick replied for the Kings.

In other action in the NWJHL, Ryan Noble made 33 saves as the North Peace Navigators blanked the Fairview Flyers 3-0.

Cole Isaac, Keegan Ferguson and Jonathan Noskey scored for the Navs, who remain one point back of Dawson Creek for second place.

The other game saw Fort St John edge the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers 3-2.

Brady Marzocco, Teagan McMullen and Dean Whitcomb scored for the Huskies, while Kail Magnusson had both goals for the Vipers.

Saturday night action in the NWJHL includes Fort St John visiting the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings, while Fairview visits Sexsmith.

Friday also saw one game in the NPHL, as Layne Maclean scored twice to lead the Manning Comets to a 4-3 win over the Falher Pirates.

Josh Rutherford and Taylor Paulovich also scored for the Comets, while Trevor Tokarz with a pair and Darren Kramer replying for the Pirates.

The regular season ends Saturday night with a pair of games, as Falher heads to Grimshaw while Manning heads to Dawson Creek.
