Feb 10, 2020 | 5:47 PM

The provincial government says the new Grande Prairie hospital will be finished this summer.

The government says in a news release the work is more than 85 per cent complete.

Work like painting and installing and testing electrical and mechanical systems will take place over the next few months.

The Province adds it will be up to Alberta Health Services to decide when it will be open for patients.

Infrastructure Minister Prasad Panda, plus local MLAs Travis Toews and Tracy Allard had a look at the inside of the hospital during a tour Sunday.

“We are focused on getting this project across the finish line by completing construction as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Panda in a news release supplied by the province.

“It’s encouraging to see the progress that’s been made here. This facility is of great importance to our region and has been long-awaited. I look forward to its completion and the additional support it will provide for our community,” added Toews, in that same release.
