Man charged after dangerous incident involving a stolen truck

Feb 13, 2020 | 5:47 PM

A man from Paddle Prairie is facing charges after a dangerous incident in the Manning-Dixonville area.

Peace Regional RCMP say another driver saw a pickup that had been stolen in Manning going south on Highway 35 at around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

When police came along, the driver turned the truck onto a road near Dixonville, sped past some houses, then turned onto some railway tracks and drove along the rail line.

The truck was abandoned in a field when it left that rail line and got stuck in the snow.

Police tracked footprints for several kilometres from the vehicle to the bush line where an arrest was made.

Thirty-one-year-old Ivan Michael Loonskin is facing seven charges, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and operation of a vehicle while prohibited among them.

He is due in Fort Vermilion court Tuesday.
