The Beaverlodge RCMP are asking the public to keep an eye out for a group of bison roaming around the Village of Hythe and surrounding area after they broke free from a trailer on Tuesday evening.

Beaverlodge RCMP were called to reports of bison roaming the streets of the village around 6:45 p.m. on February 18. According to RCMP, the bison broke free after they were able to work a side door free in the trailer where they were penned, which was parked at the Husky gas station in Hythe at that time. All 15 bison inside the trailer exited and are now at large.

Police say to watch for the bison if you are driving in the Hythe area, as they may be roaming along the roadside. The bison were last seen in the Highway 43 area north of Hythe. Reports also had them near Townhsip Road 744, and Range Road 101.

Police are asking that you do not approach the bison, and to call the Beaverlodge RCMP at 780-354-2955 if you spot them so they can safely return the bison to their owner.
