Grande Prairie has a new City Manager.

Council has appointed Horacio Galanti to fill the position.

Mayor Given says Council has confidence Galanti is the right person for the job as he has experience in both the private and municipal sector across three countries, and has spent the last six years as the City’s Director of Infrastructure and Protective Services.

“After looking across Canada and into the United States, and again, doing an extensive search, we came to the conclusion that Horacio’s Knowledge of the City of Grande Prairie, as well as his commitment to innovation, and his skill at deliverying a budget that met Counci’s desires – with respect to property tax reduction – were great evidence the best person for the job is here at home,” says Given.

As the Director of Infrastructure and Protective Services, Galanti was in the largest division within the city. The division includes 11 departments and has the largest Capital ($50-million) and Operating ($65-million) budgets, along with 500 employees.

“Having been a part of the City of Grande Prairie for six years, I am proud to call our city home and excited for the opportunity to lead and an organization full of dedicated staff,” says Galanti.
