Golden Arrow Storm complete third period comeback against Oil Kings, look to advance Wednesday night

The Golden Arrow Storm are one win away from advancing to the next round, after they defeated the Leduc Oil Kings 6-5 Tuesday at the Crosslink County Sportsplex.

Carter Hensch opened the scoring 1:10 into the opening frame for the Storm to give them the early lead.

Matthew Sholdice would get the Oil Kings on the board with 4:59 remaining to tie the game at 1-1, but it wouldn’t last long.

Devon Barclay would respond a minute later for the Storm to give them back their one goal lead, making it 2-1 Storm at the intermission.

In the second frame the Oil kings would score four unanswered, including three goals in four minutes. Steel Burke would add the lone goal for the Storm in the second, making it a 5-3 game heading into the second intermission

The third frame saw the Storm show their resiliency as the team would go on and score three goals in the final 10:50 of the third period, to steal game one from the Oil Kings 6-5.

Both team’s rematch for game two Wednesday night in Leduc. A win for the Storm sends them to the next round. An Oil Kings win and game three played at the Coke Centre at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Major Midget AAA Grande Peace Ernies Sports Storm

The Major Midget AAA Ernies Sports Storm begin their playoff journey Thursday night at the Coke Centre when they host the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers.

The two teams split their regular season series 1-1.
