Grande Prairie Martial Arts Club has great showing at Edmonton International Judo Competition

It was a strong weekend for Grande Prairie athletes at the Edmonton International Judo Competition at West Edmonton Mall.

Sydney Kinderwater led the way winning Gold in the U-18 73kg division, she also fought in the Senior Women’s category but didn’t reach the podium.

Kinderwater was also the recipient of the Stephanie Kerr Memorial for 2020.

This award is presented to an athlete in recognition of demonstrating the SPIRIT of the Judo sport. On the award, it says,” Winning is not always measured by Gold, Silver or Bronze, but by the SPIRIT you share with others.”

Other Grande Prairie athletes that won medals include:

Nikita Tsyruk U14 – 66kg – Gold

Mattea Seitz U16 – 70kg – Gold

Sensei Carlos Grisales Veterans – 90kg – Silver

Michelle Grisales U18 – 63kg – Silver

Shawn Seitz Seniors – 73kg – Bronze
