Two fires in two days in County of Grande Prairie

Mar 12, 2020 | 6:05 PM

County of Grande Prairie firefighters have been called out to two fires in as many days.

The first was in Carriage Lane around 7:45 p.m Wednesday night.

The fire was contained to the room where it started, but smoke did spread around the house.

Fire officials say that because the homeowner contacted 911 so quickly, fire crews were able to keep the blaze from spreading.

The second happened just before 5 a.m. Thursday in Clairmont.

When firefighters arrived, flames could be seen on the outside of the building and had spread into the attic. They fought the blaze and put out hot spots for 11 hours

Fire officials say efforts were hampered because a fire hydrant across the street was buried under snow piles.

No injuries have been reported in either blaze.
