Mar 13, 2020 | 7:15 AM

The Beaverlodge RCMP is warning the public of a possible Canadian Revenue Agency scam, after a local resident reported being defrauded of $20,000.

The 56-year-old resident reported to police that a male called, claiming to be an officer for the Beaverlodge RCMP, and that the individual was wanted on arrest warrants for multiple offences, including fraud and drug trafficking.

The male further advised the complainant to withdraw all funds from their bank account and send it to their account in order to be cleared of the charges.

The complainant withdrew over $20,000 in separate withdrawals and sent it to an account provided through an email with an enclosed barcode.
