Highway to Mexico project to be postponed until the fall

Mar 14, 2020 | 7:00 AM

The Highway to Mexico project has been postponed to the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project, which includes delivering first response equipment and emergency vehicles to Mexico, was scheduled to go on March 20.

Felix Seiler, Coordinator of the project, discussing the decision for a few weeks prior to the postponement announcement on Friday, March 13.

“It was just time to make that decision, and there’s some other factors as well, we have a couple of our drivers working in the healthcare field, and they are actually needed at work.”

He says they will be going in September instead.

“We are very lucky that the Mexican government (said) that these permits are valid until the end of the year, so it won’t effect the dates when we are going down there. I mean, from a work perspective, I would say we’ve done all the work, we were ready to go, all that’s going to happen now, like everything else, I’ve been busy cancelling hotel rooms and cancelling flights.”

Seiler says they will just need to wait until it gets closer to September to re-book all hotel rooms and flights.
