Alberta confirms 56 new cases of COVID-19, three more in Peace River

Alberta has confirmed 56 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total in the province to 542.

There are now 30 cases in the North zone, with three now confirmed in Peace River.

42 cases are now believed to be caused by community transmission, from an unknown source.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, says 33 Albertans have now recovered from the virus, and there are 23 in hospital. She says 10 remain in Intensive Care Units (ICU).

The number of cases at the McKenzie Towne Long Term Centre in Calgary have also went up from 13 to 15.

Currently, there are 337 confirmed cases in the Calgary zone, 120 in the Edmonton zone, 43 in the Central zone, and 12 in the South zone.

In the Peace Region, five cases are now confirmed in the High Prairie area, four are in the Peace River area, three are in the Slave Lake region, two are in the City of Grande Prairie and one each are confirmed in the Valleyview and County of Grande Prairie areas.

As of March 27, there have been 37,673 negative tests results for the novel coronavirus.
