Local distilleries now distributing hand sanitizer
Broken Oak and Latitude 55 Distilleries in Grande Prairie are now distributing their made-in-house hand sanitizer.
Around the middle of March, Broken Oak and Latitude 55 announced they were beginning to make hand sanitizer to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, with store shelves continuing to sit bare of the product due to increased demand.
Shawn Herbert, Co-Founder of Broken Oak, says the first step was finding all the proper ingredients for the sanitizer.
“What we’re putting into it is a lot different than what we would normally use in our alcohol, so we had to find everything, and there’s a bit of a demand for the products that we were needing, like glycerol for instance. There’s a lot of other distilleries across the province and across Canada that are doing it now, so there’s a bit of a supply shortage.”
