Pandemic starting to impact chuckwagon, rodeo schedules

Apr 6, 2020 | 6:05 PM

The pandemic is starting to impact chuckwagon and rodeo schedules.

Citing tough economic times and the possibility of the pandemic spreading, the Rycroft Agricultural Society has cancelled the Deken Race the 8 chuckwagon races set for June 11 to 14.

The Highway 2/49 Music Festival that was to take place June 26 to 28 has also been cancelled.

The Society made the announcements in a news release posted to its Facebook page.

The Society says the Ride for 8 bull riding event set for August going ahead will depend on any restrictions that might be in place at that time.

The April Pro Rodeo schedule has also been interrupted by the pandemic.

Rodeos set for Tofield April 11 and Camrose April 24 to 26 have been postponed. The ones set for Medicine Hat April 17 to 19 and Coleman April 24 to 26 have been rescheduled for September.
