Two more COVID-19 related fatalities at McLennan care home Sunday

The province is reporting two individuals have died from complications related to COVID-19 in the M.D. of Smoky River area over the last 24 hours. An Alberta Health spokesperson has confirmed to EverythingGP that both individuals were residents of the Manoir du Lac Continuing Care facility in McLennan.

There have now been four fatalities at that facility since an outbreak was declared back on April 2.

A total of four individuals have died in Alberta over the last 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities to 44. The other two deaths were residents of the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre in Calgary.

Three new cases of COVID-19 were also discovered in the M.D. of Smoky River area Sunday, which includes the communities of McLennan, Falher, Girouxville and Donnelly. There are now 32 confirmed cases in that area, 21 of which are active (seven recovered and four fatalities).

The numbers in other Peace Region municipalities held firm Sunday, which can be seen below.

  • City of Grande Prairie: Two cases (Both recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Three cases (All active)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • Big Lakes County: 17 cases (Ten active, six recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Four cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (One active, five recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Active)
  • Mackenzie County: One case (Recovered)

The province as a whole added 82 newly confirmed cases Sunday, bringing the provincial total to 1,651. 103 cases have been confirmed across Northern Alberta.

44 more people are confirmed to have recovered from COVID-19 across Alberta, raising the total to 823 as of Easter Sunday. 781 cases across Alberta remain active.

114 people in Northern Alberta have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24 hours. 6,204 people overall in the North Zone have been tested while 74,709 tests have been completed province-wide.
