Police thanking passing drivers, local residents, for saving another driver’s life

Fort St. John RCMP say passing drivers and a local resident were able to save another driver from a vehicle that had rolled into a ditch filled with water.

Mounties say they got a call around 9 p.m. Tuesday of a single-vehicle rollover on the Alaska Highway just north of the junction with Highway 29.

The northbound vehicle ended up submerged in water in the ditch on the southbound side.

The witnesses were able to rescue the driver and revive them along the side of the road.

The driver was taken to hospital, then flown to Prince George for further treatment. The driver is in stable condition.

Police say the rescuers saved the driver’s life and are thanking them for what they did.

The investigation into the crash continues.
