ATB Financial donates $250,000 to United Way of Alberta

ATB Financial has donated $250,000 to the United Way of Alberta.

In a statement on their Facebook page, ATB said, “ATB’s priority is to be there for Albertans, in good and tough times. Today we donated a total of $250,000 to United Way agencies in Alberta to help where help is needed. Together, we’ll get through this.”

This is big news for the Executive Director of the Northwestern Alberta United Way Jamie Craig and her team. Northwestern Alberta will receive $40,000 of the $250,000 donated and will go to benefit 30 non-profit organizations and programs in the Peace Region area.

“It actually happened suddenly, I wasn’t even expecting it,” said Craig. “I got a call from ATB about two weeks ago, letting me know that they were planning on distributing funds to all the Untied Ways in Alberta to help with COVID-19. They really stepped up.”

Craig adds that organizations and programs in the city will benefit greatly from this money.

“The idea of the fund is to help out organizations get through this time. Whether that’s Big Brothers Big Sisters or the YMCA. We fund 30 of them in the region and 26 of them is right here in Grande Prairie.”

Craig says that those that are looking for updates on how the United Way is handling COVID-19 or those looking to donate can visit their website.
