UPDATE: Saturday’s drive-in movie cancelled

Apr 24, 2020 | 11:26 AM

UPDATE: The showing planned for Saturday night (April 25) has been cancelled. More details can be found here.

A free drive-in movie will be shown in the parking lot of the Bullets & Broadheads Indoor Range (11920 100 Street) on Friday and Saturday night.

The event is a joint presentation between Revolution Auto Group, EchoAVU and Bullets & Broadheads.

Friday is to be a family-friendly showing of “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, with a feature short film from local artists, and Saturday will feature a “date night” film.

Friday’s showing will go from 9:15 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with doors opening at 8:00 p.m.

Lionel Robins, CEO of Revolution Auto Group, says they are asking everyone who wants to attend to be mindful of physical distancing, and to stay in their vehicles, bring their own food and drinks, and to only leave for bathroom breaks.

“We’re still working out a couple details with AHS (Alberta Health Services), just because we’ve trying to organize this on super short notice, so, some of the details won’t be fully disclosed until the patrons are already there, in terms of ‘can people roll their windows down or not’ and that kind of thing.”

He is also asking people to bring garbage bags and to refrain from littering, and that there will be public washrooms available that are to be sanitized after each use.

Robins says they are expecting a large turnout, and that they have been in contact with the City to possibly move to a bigger lot in the future.

“Ideally we would move down the road to a larger venue where we can accommodate three or four times more vehicles.”

He says if that does not work out, they may plan to host more frequent movie screenings so more people have a chance to attend throughout the week.

Trucks and taller SUV’s are being asked to keep to the back two rows to keep the event enjoyable, and he is encouraging people to bring smaller vehicles so there is more room.
