Grande Prairie golf courses not yet ready to open despite getting green light
During the announcement of the province’s phased economic relaunch strategy Thursday, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said that all golf courses in the province would be allowed to open as early as this coming weekend as one of its early steps to easing COVID-19 restrictions.
Despite some excitement amongst the golf community about that announcement, courses in Grande Prairie will remain closed for a little bit longer.
The Dunes Golf & Winter Club, Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club and Bear Creek Golf Club all say that they are still getting their courses ready for the season and want to open as soon as possible. Courses are estimating another 1-2 weeks before they can open.
The courses can’t open as many of them are still too wet from the amount of snow melting from the winter.
