County investigating potential fire ban violation after brush fire Sunday
The County of Grande Prairie is investigating and charges are pending after a brush fire on Sunday afternoon.
The fire was found just west of Beaverlodge on Range Road 102.
Crews responded at around 3:00 p.m. found the brush fire to be about 10 hectares in size and growing. They were ultimately able to contain the fire and spent four hours putting out hotspots and overhauling the fire. No one was injured because of the fire.
The fire was unintentionally caused by garbage being burnt on a nearby property and was found to be able to spread quickly due to the dry grass and 30km/h winds. The County’s Regional Enforcement Services are investigating the cause as a potential violation of the fire ban, and they say charges are pending.
