City of Grande Prairie up to five active COVID-19 cases

Two new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the City of Grande Prairie from the 25 new cases confirmed in the province for May 27.

There are now 679 active cases in the province, the lowest number since March 30.

6,106 cases are confirmed to have been recovered from COVID-19, with 200 of those coming from Northern Alberta.

Two more deaths were also confirmed in the province, bringing the total number of deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus to 141.

Updated case totals in the Peace Region as of May 27 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: Eight cases (Five active, three recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Six cases (Two active, four recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 68 cases (Three active, 55 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 36 cases (One active, 32 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (Six recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (Five active, 28 recovered)

Currently, there are 43 Albertans in hospital due to COVID-19, with four having been admitted into intensive care. Two remain in hospital in the North Zone.

A total of 3,168 tests were completed in the past 24 hours. There have been 245,949 completed in total, with 17,030 people from Northern Alberta receiving a test.
