RCMP seek information on property crimes in Mackenzie County
Fort Vermilion RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating suspects involved in a string of property crimes throughout Mackenzie County last week.
On the afternoon of Thursday, May 28, RCMP were called to the Trading Post Thrift Shop in Fort Vermilion, to investigate an overnight break and enter. The suspect or suspects managed to gain entry into the community donations shed, where they stole several items meant for the recent flood victims in the region.
On the morning of Friday, May 29, Mounties investigated a case of mischief that had happened the previous night at the Hill Crest Community School in Blumenort. A suspect or suspects drove a Silver Ford F150 pickup truck onto the property, causing damage throughout. Video surveillance was obtained of the vehicle driving dangerously.
The following morning, May 30, officers were called to investigate a case of mischief at the Heimstaed Lodge Assisted Living Facility, where someone had thrown eggs at the facility the night before. Employees at the facility believe this may have been the result of frustration in the community over the COVID-19 restrictions in place for visiting residents.
