Storm send Lane to BCHL’s Vees for goaltender Stankowski

The Grande Prairie Storm and Pentiction Vees of the BCHL have swapped goaltenders.

The Storm are sending Kaeden Lane to the Vees for Carl Stankowski.

Stankowski, a native of Calgary, joined the Vees in October of last season and appeared in 18 games, where he posted a record of 14-3 and earned a .915 save percentage.

Prior to his time moving to the BCHL, Stankowski spent three seasons playing in the WHL for both the Seattle Thunderbirds and Calgary Hitman.

In 2016-17 season, Stankowski, appeared in seven regular-season games with the Thunderbirds, posting a 3-0-1 record.

However, in the playoffs that season after Seattle’s starting goaltender Rylan Toth went down with a season-ending injury, Stankowski backstopped the Thunderbirds to a 16-4 playoff record and the 2017 WHL championship.

That Seattle team also featured the likes of Grande Prairie native Reece Harsch and current NHL players Matt Barzal and Ethan Bear.

Meanwhile, Lane leaves the Storm after two seasons, where he appeared in 74 games for the team.

In a statement, the Storm thanked Lane for his contributions to the team.
