Jul 2, 2020 | 3:31 PM

After 23 days on the run and eluding police across multiple RCMP jurisdictions, Grande Prairie RCMP confirmed Thursday that they have arrested Bradley Duff.

On July 1, Grande Prairie RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter to a rural business at 8:30 a.m. located east of the city.

As RCMP were responding to the location, police received further complaints of a male causing damage to the business and allegedly assaulting the complainant, the suspect then fled on foot.

The Grande Prairie RCMP responded to the area of the complaint and attempted to contain the suspect to an area, however, the suspect stole a Jeep and headed towards Grande Prairie. RCMP decided not to attempt a pursuit of the Jeep because of public safety.

Not long after RCMP decided not to pursue the Jeep, members of the public reported to 911 that the vehicle was being driven erratically within the city. The Jeep reportedly was driven into a business, rammed a parked vehicle twice and was involved in a hit and run collision with a single vehicle before being observed heading towards Beaverlodge.

As the vehicle headed into the Town of Beaverlodge, Beaverlodge RCMP located the stolen Jeep and attempted to contain it.

The stolen Jeep was allegedly used to cause further damage within the town before it fled eastbound on to Highway 43.

RCMP followed the stolen jeep on Highway 43 and deployed a successful tire deflation device, which stopped the Jeep.

The suspect then fled on foot a short distance before being arrested.

After the pursuit was complete, the suspect in the incident was identified as Bradley Duff, a man who was wanted on several arrest warrants.

As a result of the incidents, Duff is facing the following charges:

  • Two charges of flight from police.
  • Resist a peace officer.
  • Assault.
  • Operate a conveyance in a manner that was dangerous to the public.
  • Operate a conveyance while prohibited from doing so.
  • Two charges of possession of stolen property under $5,000.
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Following a judicial hearing, Duff did not speak to bail and was remanded into custody. Duff’s court date is scheduled for August 5, 2020 in Grande Prairie Provincial Court.
